Every project is different, so the best way I can make a cost estimate is if I see an example of your text in advance. This way I can judge what level of intervention may be advisable and how long the work may take.

Issues that may affect the price include:

• length of text
• amount of correction work required
• speed of turnover
• suggestions for rewriting
• consistency of writing style.

The last two points are generally classed as copy-editing, which goes beyond a simple proofread, but we can discuss beforehand whether that is what you want me to look at or not.

I set a minimum price of £40 and will consider giving a fixed quote for larger texts.
